女 ，苗族 ，1939年生 ，2010年去世 ，贵州黄平人。第一批国家级非物质文化遗产项目苗族古 歌代表性传承人。 由于苗族历史上没有自己的文字 ，苗族古歌的创作与传承只能口口相传。 传承古歌的方式也较严谨 ，有祖先传授、 家庭传授、 师徒传授、 自学等几种。 王明芝5岁起随 母亲与祖母学习苗族古歌 ，30岁后成为歌师。成为歌师之后不仅亲传于儿女 ，还培养了苗族 年轻歌手八十多名。 经她指点的歌手多次在古陇九月芦笙会、飞云崖 “ 四月八”等大型集会 的比赛中获得佳绩。 除了苗族古歌 ，王明芝还能演唱大歌、酒歌及旅方歌等百余首。
