女 ，汉族 ，1922年生 ，2011年去世 ，浙江绍兴人。第二批国家级非物质文化遗产项目越剧代 表性传承人 ，上海越剧院名誉院长 ，一级演员。袁雪芬1933年入嵊县四季春科班学戏 ，1942 年在上海大来剧场首倡越剧改革 ，在越剧界率先建立起正规的编导制度和新的舞台演出形 式 ，并糅合话剧、 电影写实主义表演特点与昆曲载歌载舞、 重视形体动作美的长处 ，形成写 实与写意相结合的编、导、 音、美、演的综合表演艺术形式。袁雪芬的唱腔旋律淳朴 ，节奏 多变 ，感情真挚深沉 ，韵味醇厚 ，委婉缠绵 ，声情并茂 ，所创 “袁派”是越剧中最早形成的 流派之一。代表作品有：《香妃》《梁山伯与祝英台》《西厢记》《祥林嫂》等。
