女 ，汉族 ，1962年生 ，浙江桐乡人。第二批国家级非物质文化遗产项目越剧代表性传承人， 中国戏剧家协会常务理事 ，浙江戏剧家协会副主席 ，一级演员 ，中国戏剧梅花奖三度获得者 （第二届、第十一届、第二十三届）。茅威涛17岁从艺 ，1982年毕业于浙江省艺术学校 ，同 年进入浙江小百花越剧团 ，1984年年仅22岁时夺得梅花奖 ，成为越剧小生第一人。其扮相英 俊 ，气度非凡 ，唱腔师承尹派 ，又根据自己的嗓音条件有所发展。代表作品有：《五女拜寿 》《汉宫怨》《陆游与唐琬》《西厢记》等。
