女 ，汉族 ，1925年生 ，2013年去世 ，山西榆次人。第二批国家级非物质文化遗产项目晋剧代 表性传承人 ，一级演员。 牛桂英自幼随民间私人晋剧班社演出 ，师从李庭柱 ，主工青衣 ，于 20世纪30年代末正式登台。 牛桂英成名后受到京剧名家李子健的指点 ，逐渐形成了具有独特 演唱风格的 “牛派”表演艺术 ，其表演特点是行腔委婉、 刚柔相济。代表作品有：《三击掌 》《打金枝》等。
