男 ，汉族 ，1945年生 ，四川夹江人。第一批国家级非物质文化遗产项目竹纸制作技艺代表性 传承人。杨占尧出身于造纸世家 ，是家传夹江竹纸制作技艺第十二代传人。初中毕业后随父 学艺 ，1980年开始独自行艺并自办手工抄纸作坊 ，创造出6尺、 8尺大幅面竹料书画纸。 20世 纪80年代初期 ，他又成功研制出 “丈二匹”书画纸。这种大型书画纸克服了以往的弊端 ，纤 维细腻、拉力强、 吸水均匀、洁白绵密、 宜书宜画。 2005年 ，为使有着千年历史、濒临消失 的传统造纸工艺得以传承 ，他开始收集制作整套传统竹纸制作所需的工具器械 ，并恢复了72 道传统造纸工序。
