女 ，汉族 ，1951年生 ，四川成都人。第一批国家级非物质文化遗产项目成都漆艺代表性传承 人 ，四川省工艺美术大师。宋西平1972年在成都工艺美术研究所漆器车间拜工艺大师陈春和 为师学习成都漆器的装饰雕花工艺和制漆胎、 髹漆、研磨等工艺 ，掌握了漆器制作中漆工的 全套工艺技法。此后 ，她曾先后受教于中央工艺美术学院漆艺专业乔十光教授、 四川美术学 院漆艺专业李大树教授和四川工艺美术研究所漆艺家胡开新 ，重点学习漆器工艺的各种装饰 技法。宋西平擅长雕花填彩 ，其雕锡片丝光基本功扎实 ，能运到如笔 ，刀法娴熟。退休后， 她自筹资金创办漆艺工作室 ，继续创作 ，并且招收徒弟。代表作品有雕漆针刻漆画《文君听 琴》《雕锡片丝光凤纹大方盒》《雕锡填彩仿古大攒盒》等 ，其中《文君听琴》在1986年被 中国工艺美术馆收藏。
