女 ，土家族 ，1955年生 ，湖南龙山人。第一批国家级非物质文化遗产项目土家族织锦技艺代 表性传承人 ，中国织锦工艺大师。刘代娥的织锦技艺属家族世代传袭 ，她12岁便跟随祖母彭 妹学习织锦技艺 ，高中毕业后便在家专业从事织锦。在四十余年的织锦生涯中 ，她承传家 艺 ，又能博采广积 ，仅她搜集收藏的土家族传统织锦就有一百多幅。她所使用的原料仍按传 统工艺丝经棉纬或经纬皆丝的要求精心制作 ，作品精密细致 ，很受欢迎。 20世纪八九十年 代 ，她相继受聘于多家民族织锦厂 ，授徒百余人；湖北民族学院和吉首大学依托她的 “捞车 河土家织锦工艺坊” ，建立了田野文化研究基地 ，取得了很好的研究效果。代表作品有 ：岩 墙花、船船花等。
